MITCHAM CAMERA CLUB

CLUB RULES

 1.        The name of the club shall be the MITCHAM CAMERA CLUB.

  2.       The object of the Club shall be the stimulation of active interest in  all branches of still photography.

  3.       The Club shall meet on Friday evenings.

  4.       The Club year shall be from the 1st April to the 31st March.

 5.        The annual subscription shall be fixed at the Annual General Meeting.

  6.       New members joining the Club after the start of the Club year shall pay  a reduced subscription on a

         pro-rata basis for the first year of their  membership.

  7.       Any member whose subscription is more than three months in arrears shall  be deemed to have resigned

         from the Club, unless a satisfactory reason is given to the Committee.

  8.      Members may invite occasional guests to the Club meetings and functions.

  9.      The Club shall be managed by a committee made up of  the following officers:-

                                                            COMMITTEE MEMBER

All to be elected at the Annual General Meeting and to serve for a  term of one year.  The Committee shall have the power to co-op an additional member or members at any time.

 10.      The Club’s submissions to all inter-club competitions shall  be selected by a  panel of five annually elected

         members, one of which should be the  Competition Secretary.   A quorum for this selection panel shall be

         three  members.

11.       The Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) shall be held on the third or fourth  Friday in the Club Year,

         excluding Good Friday.  Not less than five weeks  notice shall be given to all members.

 12.      Proposals for the A.G.M. should be handed to the secretary not less than four  weeks before the A.G.M. 

         The Secretary shall then prepare the agenda for the  meeting and distribute it to all members at least two

         weeks before the A.G.M.

 13.      Rule 12. shall not preclude proposals being made, seconded, discussed and if  necessary, voted upon at the

         time the subject is raised under the Agenda item "Any Other Business”.  Should a member or members

         making a proposal under this heading feel that insufficient time is being allowed for debate, they may call

         for an adjournment of the meeting to a later date.  Such an adjournment motion must have the support

         of at least three quarters of the members present.  Any such adjourned meeting will then proceed, as if

         there  had been no break in time, as a continuation of the A.G.M. at the stage of “Any Other Business”.

 14.      A Special General Meeting (S.G.M.) may be called at any time by the  Secretary,  by resolution of the

         Committee or by written application to the Secretary,  stating the purpose of    the meting and signed by

         no less than  six members.  The Secretary shall give at least fourteen days notice of such a  meeting to

         all   members.  The only business to be discussed at a S.G.M. shall  be that for which the meeting was

         convened.

15.       A quorum for any General Meeting shall be one third of the membership.

 16.      A quorum at any committee meeting shall be three members, one of which  should be the Chairman or

         Vice-Chairman.  In the absence of the Chairman  or Vice-Chairman, the committee may elect an acting

         chairman.

 17.      The Committee shall be responsible for the placing before each A.G.M. the Teasurer’s audited financial

          statement for the year to the previous 31st March. 

18.       Two members shall be elected at the A.G.M. as Auditors for the year and shall hold no other office in the

         Club. 

19.       The Committee shall be empowered to spend up to £50.00 of the Club’s funds on any incurred expense in

         any financial year without reference to the members. 

20.       All competitions and awards of Trophies shall be governed by separate rules. 

21.       No alteration or amendments to the Rules may be made, except in General Meeting.

 22.      The Committee shall have the power to bestow Honorary Membership.

COMPETITION RULES


BI-MONTHLY
SLIDE/PRINT COMPETITION


1.        
Slide and Print competitions shall be held, as far as other arrangements
allow,

in alternate months, with a minimum of three weeks between any
competition.

There shall be an open choice of subject matter.


 2.       
The Programme Secretary, or  his/her
nominee, shall make arrangements for the judging of the prints and slides and
attend the judging


 3.        
A member may submit any number of prints/slides, for a competition, up to
a maximum as decided by the Committee at the beginning of the Competition Year.


 4.       
Where the appointed Judge is not present at a competition a suitable
judge shall be chosen by the Chairman.


 5.        
Any slide or print obtaining a mark of eight or more cannot  be re-submitted

to any Bi-Monthly Competition.  Any
slide or print being marked 7.5 or under may be submitted a second time and will
be marked as a separate entry.

Bi-Monthly Print Competitions.

SHIELD

 1.        
Awarded to the Member obtaining the highest average score from the nine

Print Competitions.

Any print scoring nine marks or more will be eligible to enter the Jeff
Trophy or Championship Cup Competitions.

1.        
The qualifying prints to be taken from all rounds of the Beginner’s

The Jeff Trophy to be awarded to the Member who, in opinion of the Judge,
        
has produced the best Monochrome Photograph among the qualifying prints.


 CHAMPIONSHIP
TROPHY

(Best Colour Print)


 1.        
The qualifying prints to be taken from all rounds of the Beginner’s
Cup, Intermediate Cup and the Advanced Shield Competitions in the same
Competition Year.


 2.        
The Championship Trophy to be awarded to the Member who, in the opinion
of

the Judge, has produced the best Colour Photograph among the qualifying
prints.


 GLAY-JOY
SHIELD (Best Print Panel of Three)

1.        
The Trophy shall be awarded by the Judge at the Annual Competition for
the best

Panel of Three Prints.  The
panel to have a central theme or common subject matter.


  CERSELL
CUP

(Best Print in the Set Subject)


Presented
by Mr. D. Cersell


 1.       
To be awarded to the Member who, in the opinion of the Judge, has
submitted

the best print in the specified category at the Annual Competition.


 2.        
The Competition is open to all members.


 3.        
The subject category for each year shall be decided by the Selection
Panel

and announced before the start of the Competition Year.


 4.        
A miniature trophy shall be presented to the winner annually, to be
retained
     
as the member's personnel property.


 5.        
If, for the benefit of the Club, the Committee wish to re-allocate the
Cup it may do so.


 GWEN
SHIELD

(For the Most Appealing Animal Print)


 1.        
The Competition is open to all members and to be judged on one evening
         
during the Competition Year.


 2.        
Prints may be any size, mounted or unmounted, and may have been
       
submitted to the Bi-Monthly Print Competitions.


 3.        
Quality is not to count.


 4.        
Subject only is to be judged.


 5.        
Each person may submit up to five prints, but at the discretion of the
        
Competition Secretary, this may be increased if the entry is low.


 ALAN
TROPHY

(Best Commercially Produced Print)


Presented
by Alan Hutchings


 1.        
The Competition is open to all members.


 2.        
Prints must be commercially produced and not exceed 7” X 5” in size.


 3.        
All prints to be mounted as for exhibition and bearing the
photographer’s
         
name, section and the print title or identification.


 4.        
Prints may only be entered once for this competition.


 5.        
The competition is to be held on a suitable evening set aside during the
Club’s
  
programme.


 6.        
Judging to be carried out in the form of an allocation of marks from 0 -
10 by all the members present on the
evening, whether or not they have submitted prints to the competition.


 7.         
Members submitting prints may judge their own work.


 8.        
The trophy shall be awarded to the member from the Preliminary Section
with
 
the highest score.


 9.        
A small prize shall be awarded to the member with the highest score if
from
    
another section.

 NORMAN
COLOUR TROPHY

(For the Best Child/Children Slide)


Presented
by Mr. N. Candy


 1.        
The Trophy to be awarded annually for the Best Colour Transparency
depicting the subject “Children”, being one child or more.


 2.        
Not more than three transparencies from any one member in either section
“A” or “B” to be submitted in any one year.


 3.        
A winning Transparency is not eligible for re-submission in any
subsequent year.


 4.        
One evening in each Competition Year shall be set aside in the programme
for

the purpose of judging, to announce the winning Transparency and to
comment on the entries.


 5.        
The Trophy to be presented to the Winner on the occasion of the
Competition.


 THE
BRIAN TATE TROPHY
 
(Awarded to the Best All Round Photographer in Prints & Slides)


Presented
in memory of Brian Tate


 1.        
To be awarded to the photographer who has the highest aggregate score of
their top nine scores in both prints and
slides.


 2.        
In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the following rule.
The
photographer that has gained the most number of marks of 10 within the eighteen
allowable scores will be the winner.  If
this does not produce a result then the counting down of the scores (i.e. 9.5 -
9 - 8.5 etc) will continue a winner has

been found.  In the event of a tie
at this stage the trophy will be shared.
