Dreams of yesteryear

About the photographer.....in his own words... I have been taking photographs from quite an early age, having been introduced into it by my Father who was a keen photographer.

My first camera was an old Agfa folding bellows type with adjustable shutter and aperture settings. Not having an exposure meter one usually had to approximate the exposure setting.

My next camera was an old Periflex which was a copy of the old Leica. Again I experienced the same exposure draw back.

I then acquired my first SLR camera, a Pertriflex and also an exposure meter, which made life a lot better for my photography. At this point I had still not joined a camera club although my Father often tried to persuade me.

It wasn't until I bought what I considered my first reasonable camera, a Canon AE1, that I joined Mitcham Camera Club. That was in 1986. My photography started to improve greatly after joining MCC and it was at this stage that I started to use a darkroom to produce my own B & W prints with the expert guidance of my Father, who by this time had his own darkroom which I could use. My cameras have improved, I am now using Canon EOS models although I do still use a Canon T90 for some types of work.

The photographs I enjoy taking are quite varied, but candid portraiture is often a favourite of mine together with using light on images to produce desired effects.
